PCOS Skincare Guide: How to Deal with Acne and Blemishes

Many women living with PCOS struggle with stubborn acne and skin blemishes. This is typically caused by high androgen (male hormone) levels.

Characteristics of PCOS Acne

It usually concentrates around the jawline, cheeks, and neck. It tends to be cystic, painful, and very stubborn.

Skincare Routine Recommendations

  • Gentle Cleansing: Instead of harsh scrubs, use gentle cleansers containing Salicylic Acid (BHA). BHA penetrates pores to dissolve excess oil.
  • Moisturizing: Oily skin still needs hydration. Opt for "non-comedogenic" (won't clog pores) water-based moisturizers.
  • Sun Protection: To prevent acne scars from turning into dark spots (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation), you must wear sunscreen daily.

Beauty From Within

Topical products might not be enough on their own. Reducing sugar, taking zinc supplements, and drinking spearmint tea can help reduce PCOS acne from the inside out.
