At Ovura, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have when you visit our website or use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Ovura, we may collect the following types of information:

Personal Information

  • Name or nickname
  • Email address (if you choose to create an account)
  • Age and basic demographic information

Health and Wellness Information

  • Menstrual cycle information (cycle length, last period date, cycle regularity, birth control usage)
  • PCOS diagnosis status and related symptoms (e.g., skin condition, hair loss, bloating, digestion, energy level, sleep, cravings)
  • Lifestyle and nutrition preferences (e.g., diet type, activity level, water intake, goals)
  • Daily logs you choose to enter (meals, symptoms, mood, sleep, steps, notes)

Content You Provide for AI Features

  • Meal photos you choose to analyze
  • Free‑text descriptions of meals or symptoms
  • Answers you provide during onboarding and in‑app questionnaires that are used to generate AI‑based summaries or recommendations

Usage Data

  • How you interact with the app (screens viewed, features used, time spent)
  • In‑app settings and preferences

Device Information

  • Device model and operating system version
  • Unique device identifiers
  • Language and region settings

We do not collect your precise GPS location.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide and personalize our services

  • Calculate hormonal cycle insights and PCOS‑related metrics
  • Show daily summaries, progress tracking, and reminders
  • Customize the app experience based on your profile and preferences

Offer personalized recommendations related to your hormone and metabolic health

  • Generate nutrition suggestions and PCOS‑friendly tips
  • Analyze meals and daily logs to help you build healthier habits

Operate AI‑powered features

  • When you enable AI features, we use your health profile, logs, and (optionally) photos of meals to generate AI‑based analysis and recommendations (see Section 3 below).

Improve the app

  • Understand how users interact with the app to improve usability, performance, and features
  • Detect and prevent technical issues or abuse

Comply with legal obligations

  • Respond to lawful requests or legal processes where required

Ovura does not use your personal or health data for third‑party advertising.

3. AI Features and Data Sharing with Third‑Party AI Provider

Ovura includes optional AI‑powered features (such as meal analysis, onboarding analysis, chat, and daily summaries). These features are disabled by default and only become active after you give explicit permission in the app.

When you turn on AI features, we may send the following data to our AI provider solely for the purpose of generating responses for you:

Types of data sent to AI:

  • Meal photos you choose to analyze
  • Text descriptions of meals, symptoms, or questions you type
  • Relevant parts of your health profile and daily logs (for example: age range, PCOS status, cycle phase, main symptoms, nutrition goals, daily calories and macros, and lifestyle habits)
  • Context needed to generate a personalized response (e.g., your current cycle phase, energy level, or recent logs)

Who we send data to:

We use Google’s Gemini AI service (provided by Google LLC) to process this information and generate responses.

  • Requests are sent to Google’s servers over encrypted connections.
  • Google processes this data to return a response to Ovura.
  • For more information on how Google handles data, please refer to Google’s privacy documentation.

Purpose of data sharing with AI provider:

  • To generate personalized nutrition and PCOS‑related wellness analysis
  • To summarize your daily logs and provide easy‑to‑understand insights
  • To answer your wellness‑related questions in a conversational format

Consent and control:

  • You are asked for explicit consent before any personal or health data is shared with the AI provider.
  • Without your consent, Ovura does not send your personal or health data to the AI provider.
  • You can revoke this consent at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy → AI Data Sharing. After you revoke consent, new data will no longer be sent to the AI provider, and AI‑powered features will be limited.

Retention and protection:

  • Ovura stores the AI results (for example, summaries or scores) in your app data so that you can view them later.
  • We only use reputable third‑party providers that apply industry‑standard security measures and privacy protections that are equal to or stronger than our own.
  • We do not allow our AI provider to use your data for targeted advertising.

4. Information Sharing with Other Service Providers

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share limited data with carefully selected third‑party service providers who help us operate Ovura, such as:

  • Infrastructure and hosting providers that store and serve our backend (e.g., database, APIs).
  • Analytics providers that help us understand app performance and usage patterns (using de‑identified or aggregated data where possible).
  • Subscription and payment providers that process your in‑app subscriptions (e.g., App Store billing via RevenueCat).

These service providers are only allowed to use your data to perform services on our behalf and are contractually required to protect your information and comply with applicable data protection laws.

We may also disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our legal rights and the safety of our users.

5. Data Security

We implement industry‑standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encrypted communication (HTTPS) between the app and our servers
  • Access controls and limited internal access to personal data
  • Regular monitoring for security issues

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your region, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, such as:

  • Accessing or updating your profile information
  • Deleting your local app data via in‑app settings
  • Revoking AI data‑sharing consent at any time
  • Requesting additional information about how we handle your data

7. Children’s Privacy

Ovura is intended for adults and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated in‑app.
